BSNL, the state-owned telecom service provider in India, is set to launch its 4G services nationwide in August. This move aligns with the government's 'Atmanirbhar' initiative, promoting self-reliance through indigenous technology. With impressive speeds and a robust core network, BSNL aims to provide high-speed connectivity to millions of users across the country. Don't miss out on this significant step towards enhancing India's telecom sector!

Impressive Speeds Achieved During Pilot Phase

During the pilot phase, BSNL achieved impressive speeds of 40-45 megabits per second on its 4G network. This was made possible by leveraging the 700 MHz and 2100 MHz spectrum bands. The company has already introduced 4G services in Punjab, thanks to technology developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and a consortium led by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), a state-run telecom research organization. As a result, BSNL has managed to attract around 800,000 subscribers in Punjab alone.

Success of C-DoT Core Drives Nationwide Deployment

The success of the 4G core developed by C-DoT has been a significant milestone for BSNL. Typically, it takes around 12 months to fully establish the viability of such complex technology, but the C-DoT core has proven itself within just 10 months. This achievement has given BSNL the confidence to launch its 'Atmanirbhar' 4G technology across the country in August.

The core network is the backbone of any telecommunication network, providing essential services such as aggregation, call control, switching, authentication, charging, and gateway functionality. BSNL's 4G core, developed by C-DoT, has performed exceptionally well in the Punjab network, leading to its upcoming nationwide deployment.

Orders Placed to Facilitate 4G Network Deployment

To support the rollout of 4G services, BSNL has placed orders worth approximately Rs 19,000 crore with companies like TCS, Tejas Networks, and the government-owned ITI. These orders will facilitate the deployment of a 4G network that can be upgraded to 5G in the future.

Expanding Tower Infrastructure for Enhanced Coverage

BSNL is actively working on setting up 112,000 towers to provide 4G and 5G services throughout India. Currently, over 9,000 towers have already been installed for 4G services, with more than 6,000 towers operational in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP West, and Haryana.

Conclusion: Advancing India's Telecom Sector

The nationwide launch of BSNL's 4G services in August is a significant step towards achieving the government's 'Atmanirbhar' vision. By utilizing indigenous technology and partnering with leading companies, BSNL aims to provide high-speed connectivity to millions of users across the country. This development will not only enhance the digital infrastructure but also contribute to the overall growth and development of India's telecom sector.
