IIT Kanpur's National Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) for Advanced Cybersecurity, C3iHub, recently launched startup cohorts III, IV, and V at an event held in New Delhi. The event showcased 19 startups specializing in various cybersecurity areas such as application security, integrated SOC solutions, cyber forensics, blockchain technology, UAV security, IoT security, and cyber insurance.
C3iHub, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the NM-ICPS Mission, aims to support and foster entrepreneurship in the field of cybersecurity. The organization has already incubated fifty startups across five cohorts, with many of them successfully launching and commercializing their products.
Under the Startup Incubation Program, C3iHub provides a seed grant of Rs 10 lakhs to each incubated startup, along with a monthly salary of Rs 50,000 for one founder over two years. This initial investment of Rs 22 lakhs aims to achieve at least a 20% success rate among startups after the incubation period. As these startups mature, C3iHub also facilitates connections with investors and corporations to help them raise capital and develop a resilient digital infrastructure for India.
During the event, prominent figures such as Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of DST, Lt. General M U Nair, National Cyber Security Coordinator, and Dr. Ekta Kapoor, Mission Director of NM-ICPS, DST, expressed their support for C3iHub and its efforts to drive innovation in cybersecurity. They emphasized the importance of developing a vibrant cybersecurity ecosystem to address present and future challenges.
Supporting Cybersecurity Startups: C3iHub's Mission
C3iHub focuses on addressing cybersecurity challenges within critical cyber-physical systems such as infrastructures, automotive, and drones. The hub covers various cybersecurity domains including network security, cryptography, intrusion detection, and deception technology. Startups under its umbrella specialize in UAV security, blockchain, intrusion detection, and cyber-physical systems.
In addition to the launch event, C3iHub organized an exhibition where developers and top-performing startups showcased their technologies. The exhibition featured authentication, deception technology, anti-drone technology, cloud security, hardware security, and blockchain technology.
Overall, C3iHub's initiatives in supporting cybersecurity startups and fostering innovation in the field are crucial for developing a secure digital infrastructure in India.
